Heruka was created back in 2000 in the city of Trapani, Sicily,
Italy! The responsibles for such creation werw Valdemar and my friend
Adranor! Personally I consider Heruka a Black Metal Art band, if possible
check their albuns and the Metalvox compilation to get some inspirations
on your soul...!!
O Heruka foi criado em 2000 na cidade de Trapani, na região da
Sicília, Itália. Os responsáveis por tal criação
foram Valdemar e meu colega Adranor! Pessoalmente eu considero Heruka
uma banda responsável por fazer Black Metal Art! Se possível
escutem os hinos do Heruka em seus álbuns e na compilação
MetalVox, para que assim recebam algumas inspirações em
suas almas!
1 - Relate Heruka's history to me...
1 - Relate a história do Heruka para mim....
"Heruka project was created in the year 2000 by Adranor
(vocals/bass guitar/drum programming) and Valdemar (vocals/guitars)
with the purpose of recreating through estreme music, in an initial
epicurean conception, sensations and moods aroused within them by the
ancient medieval village called Erice. Doxa Epicurea, the first demo,
which the duo recorded between May and June 2001 consists of 5 tracks,
two of which are instrumental. This obsessive and gloomy recording,
is meant to show the insignificance of single lifes before the greatness
of natural upheavals. At the same time, the importance of small things
with regard to the correct and complex unfolding of natural chains of
evolution, to which men are part of. The italian language was used enterely
for the lyrics. At the end of 2001, subsequent to the withdrawal from
the project by aldemar, Adranor decided to get ahead with the project
by starting to put on paper new ideas in order to offer new products.
The new mini cd under the title Leggenda (Legend), first series of connected
concepts,is made up of 6 tracks, 24 minutes playing time, whose lyrics
(in italian) will always deal with the famous sicilian locality. However
in a wider context with purely fantasy inserts, leaving the original
epicurean conception. Therefore everything is within a spatial/temporal
vision entirely created by the only member still working on the project.
At the present time, the members of the group permorming live concerts,
which the new mini cd is promoting, is made up of Adranor (vocal/bass)
and Moha (guitar). In addition, work has started on the sequel of Leggenda
which will be a full-lenght cd."

de bateria) e Valdemar (vocais/guitarra) com o propósito de recriar
através da música extrema, no início com um conceito
e gosto refinado, sensações e um estado de espírito
despertado por eles pela vila medieval chamada Erice. Doxo Epicurea,
a primeira demo, que foi gravada entre maio e junho de 2001 consiste
de cinco faixas, das quais duas são instrumentais. Esta obsessiva
e lúgubre gravação foi criada com o intuito de
revelar como vidas humanas são insignificantes diante do grandioso
caos natural, e ao mesmo tempo mostrar a importância das coisas
pequenas para com a preocupação do correto e do complexo
desenrolar da corrente natural da evolução, da qual o
homem faz parte. A língua italiana foi usada inteiramente para
as letras. No final de 2001 conseqüentemente à saída
de Valdemar do projeto Adranor decidiu ir em frente e começou
a colocar no papel novas idéias, em ordem de oferecer novos produtos.
O novo mini MCD Leggenda (Legenda), o primeiro petaRdo conectado ao
novo conceito, foi feito com seis faixas, 24 minutos, e letras (em italiano)
que sempre lidam com a famosa localidade da Sícilia, no entanto,
com um maior contexto de fantasia inserido, deixando um pouco de lado
o conceito original, conseqüentemente, tudo foi baseado na visão
temporal criada pelo único membro que ainda mantém o projeto.
Atualmente, os membros estão atuando ao vivo, fazendo assim a
divulgação do cd, e que agora conta com Adranor (vocal/baixo)
e Moha (guitarra). Na seqüência de Leggenda será lançado
em um formato 'full-lenght"

"Trapani is a city in the extreme west of Sicily... I can't do
paragon with other locality that I know. Trapani is a strange city....no
Metal music. "

3 - Well, I'm a great admirer of The Mafia movies like The Godfather
and Goodfellas and of Italian actors as Al Pacino and Joe Pesci! What
do you have to say about Sicily? How is Sicily nowdays?
3 - Bem, eu sou um grande admirador de filmes de máfia como o
Poderoso Chefão e Bons Companheiros e também de atores
italianos como Al Pacino e Joe Pesci! O que tu tens a dizer sobre a
Sicília nos dias atuais?
" Sicily, because of its strategically important geographycal
location (in the middle of Mediterranean Sea) has always been subject
to many invaders (Elimi, Greeks, Arabs and so on). Nowdays it’s
possible seeing many traces of all these different cultures just walking
along streets of all towns. Sicilian people have different traditions
from the rest of italian populations. In fact lots of sicilian wish
the island as an indipendent state. They are sociable and warm and,
differently from what people usually think, Sicily is not just a “mafialand”.
The largest part of the inhabitants is not so aggressive and dangerously
nervous"
" Sicília, devido a sua importância geograficamente
estratégica (no meio do mar mediterrâneo) sempre foi alvo
de muitas invasões (elimis, gregos, árabes e assim por
diante). Atualmente é possível ver todo este tipo de etnia
e todas estas diferentes culturas nas ruas da cidade. O povo siciliano
tem tradições diferentes do resto da população
italiana. De fato, muitas pessoas aqui desejam que nossa Sicília
seja um estado independente. O povo aqui é bastante sociável,
diferentemente do que as pessoas pensam, Sicília não é
apenas a terra da máfia. A grande maioria dos habitantes não
é tão agressiva e perigosa quanto nos filmes."
4 - I want to know about the fictional creation of Trina-Hoc
empire...
4 - Eu quero saber sobre a criação fictícia do
império Trina-Hoc...
"Erice has been the place in which we (me and Valdemar in
the first demo) got inspired to start writing music at the beginning
in an unplugged version. We made a search about its history and we discovered
its first name was “Iruka” (This name was given it by its
first inhabitants, the “Elimi”). We borrowed this name trasforming
it into Heruka to better adapt it to our fantasy themes. The map, painted
inside the booklet of Leggenda, shows western Sicily (Trina-Hoc) as
I picture it in my mind"

5 - Why did you choose to sing in Italian? Is Italian the main
language of Trina-Hoc?
5 - Porque tu escolheste cantar em italiano? O italiano é a língua
principal do teu império imaginário?
"Yes...Italian is the only language (for now) that I use
for my lyrics...I know that singing Italian lyrics is very narrow for
comprension as for the stories as for the emotions that start for the
music, but I think Italian language is best for description of ambientation
and story for Heruka project"

6 - I still didn't understand the meaning behind Trina-Hoc!
Is that a real imaginary empire or adaptation of Sicily? I really think
you should write a book to explain how the people of your fantastic
empire live in general, what do you think?

"Trina-hoc is a my personal fantasy vision of west of Sicily....
Heruka is a locality inside Trina-Hoc, but in the real life Heruka is
Erice. Saying the thruth all my fantasy ambientations have lots of analogies
with my real life. In fact all my tales have another intrinsic meaning
that is very personal and I don’t like talking about it......For
write a book I could have more more and more free time, but sure its
not a bad idea"

7 - Why did you choose to use Black Metal to express yourself?
You should use Epic Heavy Metal, don't you think is much proper?

"I personaly have choosen Black Metal because it reflects
more my personality than Heavy Metal (or other). Heavy Metal mostly
talks about drinking fucking and smoking or partying...Bm is mostly
about anger ..fantasy...life experience..which are more intersting subjects

"Personally i don’t like much political Black Metal
bands. I never listen to works of NSBM bands, like Waffen SS or Via
Dolorosa, but if i will be able, i will do it in the future. Music is
an expression of ourselves, our conception of life, our ideals. I could
not agree with what some bands think, but the most important thing for
me is respect. Respect for musicians as artists and for human dignity
in general. I don’t support any political ideals both in my music
and in my life"

frequência vocês se encontram?
"Valdemar, after the release of Doxa Epicurea, left Heruka
project because he found in another music type the best expression of
himself. Now he are making experiences playing and composing Contemporary
music for acoustic instruments like classical guitars. I and Valdemar
never had some personal problems and still now I see him. He's one of
my best friends"
